The Web Summit has made the big move and the event, previously held in Dublin, will run from the 7th to 10th November in sunny Lisbon. The biggest tech event of its kind in Europe, the Web Summit will bring together the biggest names in business, technology, media and sports. From startups to titans of industry, the little minnows will be swimming with the blue whales.
This is part of our HR Events & People series
Every imaginable industry is represented, with speakers as diverse as actor, Shailene Woodley, to prime-minister of Portugal, António Costa, to the co-founder of Tinder, Sean Rad… rad indeed. Even HR and recruiting is represented among the many speakers, presenters and exhibitors. The full schedule for all stages is here but here’s a look at some of the most intriguing speakers at this year’s event.
Not content in being just one of the greatest footballers of his generation, he has also waded into the world of business and technology. He will be speaking about his video application, Zoome, which has just launched.
Cohort has not yet launched, but it certainly sounds intriguing. It is a tool for helping you to find the candidates you need, through your existing network, utilising Facebook, Twitter, Email and others. Who knew your friends and acquaintances were so well connected?
Teamwork.com has quickly become one of the go-to tools for collaboration and improved… eh… teamwork. Universally useful for sharing projects and tasks, Teamwork is an essential tool for project management.
He’s been Batman’s Robin, he had a successful career as an adorable child actor and now he’s looking at how technology and creativity work together. His project, hitRECord allows people to use their creative skills to collaborate on a project.
One of many collaboration and teamwork tools to make this list, Workplace by Facebook is an internal communications tool. Ad-free, the tool creates a personalised news feed, as well as connecting you with your colleagues. It even facilitates video calling.
We have given Meetup more than one mention on this blog. It is a tool for organising meetups with people with similar interests to yourself. Not only is it a great way of meeting like-minded people, it’s a great way of finding groups of people with the skill sets your organisation needs.
Founder of one of the leading online job marketplaces (one of 7 companies he founded), Grant will be present to discuss his many successes. Hired allows candidates to compare opportunities and companies can make offers to candidates through the site.

“HireHive makes the team a lot more productive. We’d be lost without it. Team Leaders can do it all themselves if needed or jump in at the right time and know exactly where everything is and what’s happening.”
